We just returned from our trip to Tucson, AZ for the annual gem show—it was my second excursion and Sam’s like, 6th time there—I’ve grown quite fond of this little city and the eclectic mix of weirdos who visit there every year #gempeople

It’s cool to watch Sam wheel and deal, stocking up on jewels she plans to use in her designs this year. I mostly go for the crystal skulls #indyjoneslife, delicious cuisine and balmy 70 degree temps 😎 (It’s so cold in pburgh rn—we’re dying!)

This year we took a little sunset horseback ride through the Saguaro National Park (I got the mule), and we stayed at @graduatehotels near U of A’s Tucson campus, where apparently Kristen Wiig was once a student #whoknew #coolroomkey

Before we left we took in some different handmade works and artifacts at the 22nd streets tents. #notjustrocks Pretty unique stuff!

November was a very full month! We voted, Sam and our friend Juliet ran a marathon, the boyz ran their own marathon for Conor’s bachelor party 🍻, somewhere in there I went to LA (but managed to take no pics except one of the Trump merch at LAX, file under: things one doesn’t expect to see), we had a blast at Jenna & Conor’s wedding, we watched the Steelers beat the Ravens (then lose to the Browns days later 🫠), lots of progress was made at the house (closets, bookshelves and front stairs are in!), Friendsgiving at Greta & Tyler’s featured an appearance by baby Camille (born just days before), we celebrated Thanksgiving in a very snowy Edinboro, then Sam and her team killed it for small biz Saturday (post-work drinks @tinaspgh has become a tradition), and finally we celebrated my mom’s bday (and thanksgiving at her place)—that was technically Dec 1–November was so full it spilled over into this month! Lots to be thankful for, and December is already off to a festive start! I really need to do a better job at photographing these moments!🤣🙃🤷🏻‍♂️

I can’t believe September is here! It was another whirlwind month. A Reading List in Review (I swear this will be my last review-post): Every year I challenge myself to read at least one new book a month. I say “challenge” because I’ve become functionally illiterate since moving to Los Angeles. There’s just not the built in time like in NYC #subwaylove. A Renovation in Review: As many of you know, I decided to purchase a modest rental property in balmy Pittsburgh a year and a half ago. I’ve never owned a home and would never be accused of being handy (e.g. I didn’t own a hammer or any tools for that matter before this project), however, I am an artiste! And a bit of a perfectionist. And dumb. Which is why this house (a 130 year old Victorian w/ 11 rooms) remains in a constant state of construction (did I mention I don’t have the money to hire professionals?). That said, great strides were made this year, due in no small part to my intrepid companion @skeltonjewelry (pictured above) - she puts up w/ the noise, and filth, and me - and does it w/ remarkable patience and cheer. Also, she’s free labor, so 🤷🏻‍♂️😇😍 In short, I’m lucky to have her; I’m optimistic we’ll finally finish this joint in 2019! “We’re so damn close!” Enjoy these #beforeandafters in the meantime! #homerenovation #hgtv #dumpsterpalace #drywall #freelabor #spackling #yinzerlife #diyrenovation #diyhomedecor #dembloreno
